"SHOW me thy ways, O LORD; TEACH me thy
paths. LEAD me in thy TRUTH, and TEACH me..." (Psa 25:4-5)
"O send out thy LIGHT and thy TRUTH: let them lead me..." (Psa 43:3)
We don't need to fear the TRUTH, but rather the UNTRUTH!
"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." (John 8:32)
"...I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." (John 10:10)
God wants us to be free of the commandments and restrictions of men, as well as to be free of degrading addictions. Ignorant teachers and false religions have placed many commandments and restrictions upon men, which God never intended. Jesus speaking of such said, "...teaching for doctrines the commandments of men." (Matt 15:9). Apostle Paul speaking of this said, "Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth." (1 Tim 4:3).
Although God's laws do not allow us to do everything we might want to do on the spur of the moment, yet the result of keeping His laws is life and freedom. It's the perfect law of liberty (James 1:25, 2:12)! Satan's freedom allows his followers to freely itch their poison ivy (degrading addictions) while God's freedom delivers His followers from the poison ivy.
God's commandments are not grievous (1 John 5:3). "For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly." (Psa 84:11). "The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing." (Psa 34:10). "...godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come". (1 Tim 4:8). God's freedom frees us from hate, envy and bitterness which tear a man down. Although Godliness and truth hold freedom and blessing for time and eternity, yet holding to Godliness and truth is a real challenge. Jesus said, "Strive to enter in at the strait gate... (Luke 13:24). Yet it's worth the fight. Apostle Paul close to his death said, "I have fought a good fight..." (2 Tim 4:7). May we do the same!
